Helping Heart-Centered Writers

Touch Their Readers’ Hearts

Helping Heart-Centered Writers Touch Their Readers’ Hearts

Would you like your writing to have a greater impact on your readers — to feel that it’s made a positive difference in their lives?

And do you feel that with some fine-tuning and skillful editing, your writing could affect your readers more powerfully and beneficially?

I have helped many writers achieve this, and I can help you too.

What Do I Mean by “Heart-Centered Writers”?

Whether you are a prose writer, a poet, or both, you are a person who is deeply touched by the pain and suffering you witness in the world, as well as by the beauty you find. Discovering and celebrating this beauty in your writing is important to you.

You are interested in spirituality and/or social justice. You passionately want your writing to help heal the world and make it a more humane place, as well as to help your readers connect more fully with themselves and one another.

So you are not seeking a neat formula for churning out the next best seller. Nor — however important — are you writing a how-to book with answers, or a book of abstract ideas. You are on a mission to reach your readers in a deeper way, affecting their hearts as well as their minds.

You want your writing to be engaging and alive, speaking to your readers’ whole being.

How My Editing Can Help You Accomplish This

I have edited the prose and poetry of many writers over the years so that their writing reflects the best of what they truly meant to say. Bringing such qualities as clear-headed insight, patience, and attention to detail, I’ve ensured that my clients’ manuscripts come out clear, flowing, and satisfying for their authors.

My professional experience is built on the foundation of my own heart-centered poetry and prose writing over decades. I’ve needed to feel inspired, of course — but also do numerous revisions to make my writing engage my readers effectively, editing the piece until it feels complete and ready for publication. So I know firsthand what’s involved in working on writing until it feels just right.

Here are some important elements of good, heart-centered writing:

  • Telling powerful stories with a universal quality that your readers can relate to readily.

  • Using fresh, evocative, sensory language, rather than ready-made phrases you’ve seen many times before.

  • Organizing your writing well, so your readers can easily follow it.

  • Including details that add to the effectiveness of your writing, and your readers’ ability to take it in (such as proper grammar, punctuation, and spelling; transitions from one point to the next; and so on).

  • Being succinct — expressing what you want to say without extra words cluttering it and diluting its impact.

  • And perhaps most importantly, ensuring that your writing rings true — that it has the qualities of honesty and depth required to have a lasting effect on your readers.

All this in the service of connecting with your readers on a very human, intimate level.

So if you’d like some help to more fully touch your readers’ hearts with your writing, I’d love to work with you on this. With sensitive, skillful editing, I’ll enable your writing to express just what you want to say — clearly, powerfully, and movingly. Then not only will it have a strong, positive effect on them, but it will also fulfill your dreams as a writer.

It was a pleasure working with Ralph. He did a wonderful job cleaning up my manuscript and making it a much better book to read. I learned a lot from him about the process of writing and creating stories. He will be there, guiding and supporting you every step of the way.

Ralph was exceptionally helpful in working with me on a book about my husband’s life-threatening illness. He was extremely patient with us during this very emotional time.
I couldn’t have finished the book without him.
